Lodging Permit and Short-Term Vacation Rental License

Putnam County is proud to announce an update to the online process for applying for and renewing your Short Term Rental licenses. We've switched to GeoPermits for a friendlier experience, offering step-by-step instruction and consistent communication back to you throughout the process.

To access GeoPermits, you must set up your own user account via your email (only takes about two minutes). Once the account is registered, you will be able to conduct an initial application in the system, and in future years renew your registration. By setting up a user account, you will be able to view and track your registration, make payments, and upload and download pertinent documents. You can start, save and come back to your application any time.

In order to ensure your 2025 STR License, please submit your complete application and payment no later than December 31, 2024.

Please do not enter any new information into the GovOs system.  This includes the payment and reporting of Hotel Motel Excise taxes.  Hotel Motel Excise taxes can still be handled online.  Please email the reports to Lynn Butterworth and make payments here.  If you prefer, you can mail in the reports with a check.  A blank copy of the Hotel Motel Excise tax report can be found below.

Putnam County issues lodging permits and short term vacation rental licenses in accordance with Chapters 22, 29, 54 and 66 of the Putnam County Code of Ordinances.
