Middle Georgia Aging Advisory Council
On August 10, 2023 the Middle Georgia Regional Commission Council passed a resolution to establish the Middle Georgia Aging Advisory Council. The Advisory Council will provide critical input to the aging and disability services provided by the Regional Commission in the years ahead.
The Aging Advisory Council is composed of twenty-three members who serve two-year terms and represent a diverse group of interests. Each County in Middle Georgia is asked to appoint one member for a two-year term. Regional Commission Council Chair John Harley will appoint the remaining 12 members with an initial term of one year, to stagger the terms. After the initial terms, all terms will be two years. The Aging Advisory Council will meet twice per year at the Middle Georgia Regional Commission on a date and time convenient to the members.
To qualify for appointment, the individual should reside in your county and should represent one of the following categories:
- persons who are over the age of 60
- representatives of health care provider organizations
- representatives of supportive services provider organizations
- persons with leadership experience in the private and non-profit sectors
- local elected official
- representatives in the general public interested in aging services
