Short-Term Vacation Rental Complaints

Putnam County issues short term vacation rental licenses in accordance with Chapters 22, 29, and 66 of the Putnam County Code of Ordinances.

The new ordinances, adopted September 1, 2023, are posted below. 

Putnam County Planning and Development uses GeoPermits software for processing short term rental code complaints. 

• Citizens can enter their complaints online 24 hours a day (see below for link)
• In addition, there is a dedicated STR Hotline number that will be answered by Stephanie Morris and/or Monica Evans during business hours and by Code Enforcement officers after hours.

STR Code Enforcement (part of the Planning and Development Department) operates as follows:

• Three part-time Weekend Staff
  • Friday 6PM-9PM
  • Saturday 12PM-9PM
  • Sunday 12PM-9PM
• Weekdays are handled by full-time Code Enforcement staff
• Full-time staff patrols in their assigned Putnam County vehicles
• Part-time staff patrols in their STR wrapped vehicles (3 vehicles total)
