Engineer - Plan Review

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for providing engineering review of site and development plans. Reviews commercial, industrial, and residential subdivision plans and site plans; maintains related records and assist in administering the plan review process. Assist with the administration of the local erosion and sediment control ordinance, subdivision ordinance, and stormwater management ordinance. Assists with field engineering/surveying to gather data and establish surveying controls for construction projects. Assists with construction inspections for compliance with approved plans and construction standards, specifications, and design intent. Performs construction design and management for public works projects, including preparation of contract documents, estimates, details, and bid forms as needed for quotes and bids; assists in the awarding process and performs other related duties. Guidelines include local and county codes, zoning ordinances, subdivision ordinances, state and federal environmental regulations, professional engineering practices, and other relevant state and federal regulations. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation of applications.   

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or closely related field
• Two years of experience in civil engineering plan review and construction
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience
• International Code Council Plans Examiner Certification is highly desirable
• A valid Georgia’s driver’s license
• Registered as a Professional Civil or Structural Engineer in the State of Georgia preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Principles and practices of civil engineering and surveying including design, construction, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis principles and application and drainage infrastructure design and operation; open channel hydraulics
• Basic understanding of residential and commercial development
