Building Maintenance Worker

Putnam County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Building Maintenance Worker. This position is responsible for performing semi-skilled and manual labor work related to cleaning, repairing, and maintaining county buildings and grounds.
MAJOR DUTIES:
o Performs semi-skilled and manual labor work involving cleaning, repairing, and maintaining county buildings and grounds, including minor carpentry repairs and alterations, interior/exterior painting, repairing doors, and performing other related maintenance activities.
o Mows, cleans, and maintains lawns and landscaping.
o Repairs electrical and lighting systems.
o Replaces and repairs faulty plumbing.
o Maintains and repairs office furniture and equipment.
o Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors.
o Assesses and reports plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning problems that require outside contractor or warranty service.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
o Knowledge of the principles and practices of building and ground maintenance.
o Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, and mechanical repair and maintenance procedures.
o Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
o Skill in maintenance, repair, and operation of ground maintenance equipment.
o Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
